2014,  Loss of object and Bondage to it, Lubomorov-Easton, Deptford

The title for this group of works "Loss of object and bondage to it", produced during a month long residency in Deptford, is from Karl Marx, Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts (1844) in which he discuses the objectification of labour and in turn alienation from product. When observing building sites and shop refurbishments on my daily journey to and from the workspace, I found myself relating to the detritus of activities rather than having any interest in the finished developments. In this work I was looking to articulate an intimacy, immediacy, a present-ness of being with things.
